Campbell Addy |
Campbell Addy is A Ghanaian-British photographer born and raised in South London. His parents separated during his childhood and he was brought up by his Jehovah's Witness mother in a low-income community. When he was 17, Addy's brother outed Campbell's sexual orientation to their mother after he had uncovered a photograph of Campbell and a boyfriend in his bedroom. Fearing being sent to live with his Muslim father in Ghana, Addy fled home. He was taken in by the Albert Kennedy Trust and subsequently put into foster care with Richard Field, a gay artist living in South London. Addy has since reconciled with his family. Inspired and encouraged by Field, he enrolled into Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design, where he majored in fashion communications. In 2016, Addy launched his own magazine, Nii Journal, as well as a modelling agency Nii Agency and since then has made multiple publications. He has worked with outlets like Vogue, Harper's Bazaar and Dazed and has photographed Edward Enninful, Tyler the Creator, Kendall Jenner, FKA Twigs and Naomi Campbell.

Hanna Lenz's project 'Else' is an immersive collection that explores the elderly life of 97 year old Else, a Danish woman who has been living in her fifth floor two-room apartment in Aarhus, Denmark for 58 years at the time the photos were taken. The project consists of a series of images that capture the day to day life of Else and the struggles and obstacles she faces as age effects her. She follows a similar composition throughout all portraits more or less placing Else in the centre or slightly to the side creating a more documentary feel as we get an idea of how Else lives at her age. Lenz continues to document her life as else makes visits the hospital and moves to an elderly carehome. It invites viewers to contemplate their own lives and encourages a deeper sense of empathy and connection with Else. She often includes a natural light source playing with highlights and shadows creating a common theme of opposits: light and dark, young and old.
